CHONQING, China

Here I am for couple days, in this side of the world. I sometimes need to travel and then I always remember how much I love being home. Specially when I travel to Asia I remember all the good things about living in Finland: the fresh air, the clean food and the peace.

Working with different cultures is always interesting. No matter how much I try to not make stereotypes of people there is always that strong difference that you notice. ¬†Luckily I had been reading Salom Schwartz and he’s value theory that explains the differences between different nations. The biggest difference between Finland and China is in the hierarchy-equality values. In the countries where the hierarchy values are strong listening to the authorities is important, in my experience this means listening only the authorities not your equal working partners. In equal countries everybody works together with equal rights to achieve the best they can together.

And the best trip always takes us home…
